ABOUT US

Bridge-the-Gap Life Coaching Services, LLC is an organization dedicated to empowering clergy to excel in life and ministry through the coaching process. By partnering with pastors to bridge the gap between their lives today and their hopes for tomorrow, Professional Certified Coach and ordained United Methodist minister Sharon L. Vandegrift supports church ministry professionals from various denominations as they move along the journey from being good, to being great.

Bridge-the-Gap’s working model of coaching resonates with the definition of the International Coach Federation (ICF)“Coaching is an on-going relationship, which focuses on clients taking action toward the realization of their visions, goals or desires.  Coaching uses a process of inquiry and personal discovery to build the client’s level of awareness and responsibility and provides the client with structure, support and feedback. The coaching process helps clients both define and achieve professional and personal goals faster and with more ease than would be possible otherwise.”

Bridge-the- Gap’s Executive Director and Coach is The Rev. Sharon L. Vandegrift. As an author, coach and United Methodist minister, Sharon is an ICF credentialed Professional Certified Coach and a clergy member of the Eastern PA Conference of the United Methodist Church. She is author of Keeping Your Balance: Seven Strategies for Remaining Steady in the Midst of Hectic Church Life; a regular contributor to ‘Response’ , the monthly publication of the United Methodist Women; and a Registered Leadership Coach and a Life Coach endorsed by the United Methodist Endorsement Agency.

Because of her extensive experience, Sharon brings to the coaching conversation an intimate understanding of issues that are particular to those in professional ministry. Having served for over 25 years in a variety of appointments as campus minister, pastor of small congregations, and senior pastor and head of staff of larger congregations, Sharon has a special affinity for the unique life and work of the professional pastor. This makes her an extremely effective coach for clergy who are just starting out on the pastoral journey, as well as for the seasoned pastor who wants to move forward.

Additionally, Sharon is a founding member of the ‘Methodist Coaching Connection’ which is a collaborative community of Methodist clergy who are professional coaches. She is also on the volunteer coaching staff of  ’One to One Women Coaching Women’ a non-profit organization that provides coaching to women in challenging economic situations.

Sharon  holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Religion from Albright College, a Masters of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, and is a graduate of the Institute for Life Coach Training.
